What can you do to help in the MARINE PARK debate? PLEASE help distribute this important message - on every blog and FB page where people are criticising the Governments decision to review the Marie Park Network! If we don't get active the misinformation being spread will continue to dominate this national debate…

no probs
I was a bit of a "greeny" when it comes to protecting our environment to ensure that generations to come will have the benefit of being able to catch a fish or even better purchase locally caught seafood from our supermarkets. I believed that the "Super Trawler" was wrong and I may even liked a few anti Super Trawler FB pages and even put my name to a few petitions. All I can say is "how naive was I". Doom n' gloom catches headlines catches our attention and it's really easy to paint and very bad picture in a few short statements. It's designed to hit our conscience and it does, it works on us and without knowing the full story, it easy to support by clicking a few "likes" or sharing these headlines, it makes us feel like activists working hard on conserving our environment. However below all that BS is the truth, backed by scientists with reasearch and facts to prove that Australia has one of the (if not the) most managed and sustainable fisheries in the world.
A really good starting point for all these greenies whould be to stop buying cheap imported seafood which is being imported into Australia as fast as the unmanaged, unregulated overseas fishermen can catch it. These imports are (mostly) not from unsustainable fisheries with no management plans in place or being enforced yet Australians are one of their biggest customers!
This film really moved me. It's allowed me to listen to a voice which has been drowned out by an uninformed one-eyed crowd of people which is unfortunately fast becoming the majority. I feel a lot more empowered to make informed decisons when it comes to lour local seafood industry. Prior to watching this movie I believed what the government said but now I know it's just a bunch of lies so that the majority people are kept on side, their side to tick their box at the next election.
As for being encouraged to eat lamb, beef and chicken, seafood has the lowest impact on the envirnment than any of the food sources that we're been encouraged to eat becasue seafood is supposidly no longer sustainable. How do we get "the greenies" to understand the impact of this? Here's a short vid that may help! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQs3at7Q72k&feature=share&list=UU_g5qJGp8VjA3brweRcjjAA&index=1
The greenies should really take a long hard look at themselves! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqC20qIeGL0&feature=share&list=UU_g5qJGp8VjA3brweRcjjAA

Great Post
Thank you for that post Seafari the sites that you have posted to have a look at are very good and I hope other F/W members take the time to have a look at them also. The more knowledge we gain the more we can put our point of view across in an informed way.

Thanks Meglodon, I'm surprised that more FW members have not readand commented, probably too busy fishing
It appears that us Westerners only get jumpy when it's too late and we land up like Queensland with all their marine parks!
