I have an older lms unit and it works as per the link.   I don't know if yours is the same but worth a try.

Some other info

I know not strictly what you were asking, but there is some great free software out there that converts downloaded waypoints from one proprietory format to a multitude of other formats.  It's called GPSbabel.  http://www.gpsbabel.org/

This is invaluable when moving from one brand of GPS to another, or even when upgrading from older models that are incompatible.  Saves a whole heap of data entry.

I also use is it when downloading my saved waypoints from my Lowrance unit to my PC for backup purposes.  The Lowrance format is .usr and is unreadable, but GPSbabel will convert to Excel or other common readable formats so you can at least see what you've got.

Another great use is if you have waypoints already in Excel, you can format them the way GPSbabel expects, then convert them to the format of your GPS, load onto your SD card and then upload into your GPS.

 Don you shouldn't be saving

Don you shouldn't be saving waypoints on your Navionics card. Use a standard SD card. Your waypoints will be saved in your HDS 5 memory. You just have to transfer them onto a SD card for backup. Go to 1-pages, 2-settings, 3-files, 4-waypoints, then export to SD card.
