trout rod

 hi ben ferguson,

I have 3 trout/redfin/bream rods that do well for me, never used a hearty rise.

Berkley dropshot 5'2  2-4kg I use this when there is alot a bush, trees etc and have tight casting. This has a 2500 reel with 10lb braid (bit of a brute stick)

I also have a 7'6 team daiwa 1-3kg with a 2000 reel and 4lb braid, this is good for open areas where I will not get the rod caught up when casting, use it mainly in dams

The last rod is a shimano raider YAK 6' and 1-3kg, this is a bit of an inbetweener of the above 2. Has a 2000 reel with 4 lb braid.

I tie the 4lb braid firectly to a very small type of snap swivel and then I can change between lures. I use a leader on the 10lb braid, This works for me. Others will have differant ways....each to their own.

Cheers Bardzman.

 Check out the Crucis Aegis

Check out the Crucis Aegis 6023 ( made by Lox ) 1-3kg,  jap graphite blank, k guides ( not fuji though ) and only $99. My current favourite light rod. Have mine matched to a ci4+ 1000 spooled with 300m ( yes, 300m . . . ) 8lb YGK WX4. Casts a mile and can feel every nibble and nudge
