3 mile
do you mean behind or inside the 3 mile reef, depends what you call 'far out'
your boat should be able to go behind the 3 mile no problems in decent weather. Last year we had a fantastic spanish mackeral season in perth but it is a bit early for them yet, January onwards. Plenty of tuna behind the 3 mile reef also but not sure if there are many of them around at the moment either look for bait balls and birds working. Samson fish are also caught there occasionly. Most people troll a big minnow like a halco crazy deep but this is only one of many lures suitable. usually 6-8knots or how your lure handles speed
inside the 3 mile, when I was younger we used to troll little slices for herring and tailor going back and forward over the same patch throwing a bit of berly out now and then.

If ur just looking for some
If ur just looking for some fun and spending some time on the water getting used to your new tub, then head out of hillaries towards little island and on the east side of the island where the sand and seaweed meet and is patchy. Troll around this area nice and slow, 4knots ish, with some 20g metal lures, troll around until the herring find ur lures, just keep an eye on ur rods to see hits and hook ups. If u have polaroid sunnies then keep an eye on ur lure and u will see the herring schools chasing and smashing ur metal lures. Easy way to get a few for some fun or a feed. Occasional get some good size snook around there too and its also a good area to flick squid jigs around. Have fun mate and enjoy!
