Tie downs

Hey guys. Just wondering what people are using for tie downs to secure the boat when travelling. So far struggling to find transom straps that have a high enough load rating, and the ones that go across the whole boat that have a high enough rating have a massive ratchet which is hard to ensure doesn't bash into boat.
looking hopefully for something secure, and easy to apply that won't damage the boat.
cheers!

To prevent contact between
To prevent contact between the ratchet and / or the strap and the side of the boat I use to attach a cork hand sanding block to the strap to act as a packer. It worked well.

I tend to use the normal tie down ratchet but put the ratchet closer to the beam of the trailer to prevent it from hitting the boat. For the straps I just wrap a bit of old towel or rags around it. Never had a problem with damage to the boat
