Cheers for the input

they install well under 3k

They all have their cheap
They all have their cheap packages so don't get sucked into one of them unless you are in it for the short term. 6.48kw of tier 1 solar panels (worked out on a ratio of returned faulty vs good ones) an a fronius 5kw inverter should set you back just over $4k. You can get the same package with a cheap inverter for around two and a half k.
Most panels will have a 25 year warranty and ones such as LG are top shelf and priced accordingly. Canadian solar or Trina are a good affordable middle ground. Most, if not all, are made in China.
Your inverter MUST have a manufacturer backed warranty (Fronius, LG, SMA) as lots of the pop up suppliers warrant their own gear. When the shit hits the fan then they just shut down that entity and start a new 'branch' of the business cough cough euro solar...
The key to getting a good product is specify the inverter you want and get them to supply a package around that and get multiple quotes. Even via email.
We have a five year old and a two year old and have the package above. My wife works from home and our last bill, with aircon and all, was around two hundred bucks. That is with Paw Patrol on most of the day...
More than happy to help I find you have any questions and please use the search tool as there has been plenty of conversation on it.

Yep
What swompa said. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old, air con and tv’s running regularly, as well as internet and I pads all the time. I got a frontius inverter (5kw) with 6.5 kw worth if panels on the roof. All up cost just under $5k fully installed. That was all permits sorted for me, new digital power metre ect. My last bill was under $100. Spewing I didn’t do it years ago.

Hey happy dayz
I used some guys called dawesco electrical. 2x brothers that are sparkles and licensed installers. I’m a qualified diesel mechanic so good with my hands, and know the look of good trade workmanship when I see it. I got in the roof after they installed it all and double checked the work for my own piece of mind. Happy to say they did an awesome job! Very neat, good attention to detail, and they turned up on time and were easy to deal with. I would recommend them to others for sure.

Research
I spent over 6 months reading and researching, this was the best place for info:
https://www.solarquotes.com.au/solar101.html
and Finn's blog was also very helpful.
I went with a Solar Edge system (Canadian Solar panels optimised by solar edge), not quite top of the range, but above the middle, installed by these guys.

Recommend them highly, from inspection to installation.

I second Mark-m, infinite energy.
had mine 3 yeas now and it’s paid itself back.
24 panels, German 5kv inverter.
2 adults, 6 kids (Brady bunch)( not all at home now thank effing g@d!) $600+ bills not uncommon.
down to $150, so don’t take long to pay for itself.
cheers.

We went with Zasco
We went with Zasco Electrical to install our solar. Their installers work for the company rather then being subbied out, which makes a difference as they care. Really neat installation and a pleasure to deal with.
5kw Fronius inverter with 6.6kw of panels (forget the panel brand) - was about $4k installed.
I have some serious fish tanks and we are a family of 3, wife works from home. Were copping $700 (2months) powerbills. Dropped it down to 200-250, couldnt be happier.

There is a local mob on
There is a local mob on Instagram advertising a 6.48kw package with Fronius inverter for $3800.
ALWAYS as for a discount!
You: "Are you able to sharpen your pencil on that? I have the cash ready to go, I am just securing the best price"
Them: Have you got a better price?
You: Yes, your competitor is ~x% cheaper for the exact same product though I would prefer to transact with you

Got ours with Zasco as well.
Got ours with Zasco as well. No complaints from me. Fair price, quick instillation and they followed up with a phone call from the installer.
