Looks good but it depends on the leader poundage. If it was me i'd be using a running sinker instead of a fixed one. 

If you can catch a yellowtail/herring put it on there as you'll have some nice fresh bait out which in most cases is better then frozen. Good luck.

as danno said, have a running sinker. what i do is attach a swivel to the leader, and to the leader i attach a lighter line class to the sinker. this is so that the sinker will snapp off before the hooks.

just forget about the Mulies, won't last 2mins in the water. Get some mullet or herring fillets or catch some livies when you here.

Just make sure you dress for driving rain and 20-30knt winds. That's whats forecast.

Probably more chance of a Mulloway than any Sharks. Rays are pretty common though.

Running sinker - definate, - bait - herring / whiting / mullett head - 85lb or more on the hook trace; size 4 / 5 / 6 hooks would do - looks good - tight lines dude.

no need for a running sinker imo.. snell 2 7/0 owner cutting points (best hooks money can buy.. amen) with a crane 3 way.. (use 80-100, in addition to your leader) cross lock to your sinker. a shark or ray will take the bait regardless, and the added wait assures the hook is set. I know for a fact the LBG boys out of NZ use a 1kg fixed weight with 1.3m of 180lb trace to 3m of 180lb mono

alternately, use 80lb lockweld wire.. same deal, just melt it when u tie it. this will prevent any bite offs (well most metro sharks)

I agree about a running sinker!!

Not because its necessary, but because the pros outweigh the cons. Gives you more sensitivity and sure 4/5 sharks will just smash it and run but plenty of rays will mouth a big bait and take their time with it, they might not be as hesitant as mullas but they can certainly take their time and giving some slack can work well.

The rig described above is for kayaking baits hey John? Totally different ball game....

Jip Cuthbad - imo you get better pick ups with baits moving freely - give slack for a couple of seconds before setting the hooks.

My advice is as follows:

if you want to hit up sharks, that mono leader will be like butter. Dunno how many times i've had a nicely slice leader come back after the shortest run. Use flurocarbon to give you half a chance if you don't want to use wire. 

Running sinker, as before leemo said. Ensure your sinker trace is lighter. A massive run it will snap off instantly which is bliss, as its you and the fish with no tangles interfering. Eg. Last pinkie i got, clean snapped the sinker off. Had a few mullas do it too in the past few months too. 

Personally, i fish a tight drag and, good hook exposure and VERY sharp hooks. I've dropped one mulla in the last 9 months. All others were cleanly hooked. But that's from the beach. On the Beach, they hit like a freight train. No messing around! They are a predator after all. I think river you'll need to give em some time as they like to pick up and drop a bit. Not sure about jetties though!. 

No art to rays i reckon, they are just a pain in the a$$ if you ask me. I can catch them with my eyes closed.
Rays, squid guts is your best bait for sure.
