Shark bay Safety
Submitted by crasny1 on Thu, 2015-09-10 08:10
Heading up Saturday for 10days, starting with 3 in Kalbarri. What is the safety radio call/station for Denham. Know Kalbarri but wasnt contemplating heading out, mostly upstram for bream, crabs and soapies for fun.
In denham also not trying to fill freezers, so not heading very far out. Will try for squid and light line snapper, whether size or not. Then target whiting.

Thats what this site is all about. I could have looked but thought someone could help.
Adam - for safety perhaps have a segment with the emergency radio contact as deckie provided. Good for quick reference. For example in the Strike Zone. Radio Callsigns emergency

Acrm base denham (wende and
Acrm base denham (wende and noel) should still be operating. They are un town over the winter months. If you google it you should find a contaxt number to confirm. If you speak with wende say hi from me. :) They also have log on / log off, which the local vmr dont provide.

Repeaters
The repeater on Cape Cuvier is channel 81 and I think the one on Steep point is 80.
If Wende at Acram base isn't there [she is now] then Errol and Moe from Shark Bay Sea Rescue should be there to take your log in. If you are travelling up Turtle Bay / Cape Inscription it puts you in a blind spot, no radio coverage to Denham and only limited to here in Carnarvon

Steep point repeater was 22.
Steep point repeater was 22. Not sure if that has changed recently. The ranger monitors 16 anyway.
