This fuel price gouge is ridiculous. Currently the cheapest diesel in hedland is $2.39 . Bet the prices will go up a fair bit more. I can see fuel theft going up as well

Border Village Roadhouse on the Nullabor were charging $3.135 a litre for diesel when we passed through on Tuesday. Fortunately we had filled up at Eucla at $2.65.

Only going to get worse before it gets better. Feel sorry for the ones that need to spend the extra so they can go to work and end up with less for the stuff they need for the families. thankfully I'm not in that situation

Do you really believe that the price will come down once the fuel companies see how much they are raking in at the moment. It seems in this country when the price goes up it stays there. Not forgetting that the oil used to make the petrol/diesol was bought 4 weeks prior to the current price.

I'm not sure I agree with that about price movements.
Oil producers are well aware that these spikes drive people to EV's, the proverbial golden goose situation.
Also, I don't think fuel has been significantly cheaper in the last 2 decades compared to income/inflation up til this started.
Just looking at random on Fuelwatch, the average petrol and diesel prices in Dec 2010 were about $1.30 and similar in 2015.
Wages/inflation have been about 3-7% since

We are truely being ripped off. A total of only 20 % of world oil geos thru the straights of Hoemuz, of this total ammont 80 % goes to China . In response to this situation Venezuala and the Arab states have upped thier production so they can reap the rewards of rising prices. At the same time the U.S upped its local prodution, which has resulted in a decrease in its imports. Taking this into account we have an over all short fall in the total world supply by just 10%. Prices of oil are hedged at least one month ahead in most supply situations so there should be a delay in price increases, our Fed Gov knows we are being gouged behond a reasonable level but they wont do anything about it becuase they get import duties and the gst on top of this increase in pricing so they celebrate every increase . The oil companies immediately put up prices before any supply decrease was put in place, they started price increases day one of the attack on Iran well before any actual shortfal in supply l. To be added to this are hedge fund speculators who buy oil futures to sell at a later date in order to create profit for themselves, thus incresing demand. What a great fuck up. When Trump asked world leaders to send ships to the middle east to assist in providing oil tanker escorts to help restore supply they all refused. Trump will use his own ships to do this and will restore supply even if he has to capture the island where the Iraians produce the oil and can then send it to friendly neighbor states by passing Hormuz thru land pipelines. Just you wait and see the gouging will continue even when supply is restored. Mean while back in Australia the labour party solution dump dirty fuel that was prohibited sale, add to this the latest interest rate rises our young familys are being streched to thier limits. Oh what a wonderful world.

Filled up the boat at Hillarys fuel jetty yesterday and paid $2.78/litre. Had exected worse. Diesel was $2.94/litre! My mate put 1,500 litres of diesel in his boat in the first week of March at $2.04. Big saving!

I actually am not that bothered about the price I'll pretty well pay whatever to get my fishing fix. It's the supply that worries me.
Annual Gnaraloo trip coming up end of April and we had the discussion of maybe actually hauling it up there instead of fueling up in Carnarvon. They might have rules in place by them of limited jerry fills.
I'm going to stash away at least half the boat supply in the next couple of weeks. The diesel i'm not so concerned about as I think the regionals will get a good supply.

Been quite a few years since I've been up that way (lived at Bellbridge on the Hume Weir for a period in 1982), forgot how beautiful it is with all those rivers and streams and surrounded by mountains. Unfortunately way too much rain and the trout wouldn't play the game. Only managed 1 small blackish.
The one thing that has changed over the years is the number of samba deer in the area. When I lived there, there were none, now they are in such numbers that they are becoming a real problem on some properties. We saw them running across cow paddocks in the middle of the day, fences don't stop them, they just put their heads down and run through.
