As far as i know Steep point is booked solid for 12 to 18 months. My friends had to settle for a beach camp site next month .

I know the beach camp booking

Fri, 2011-10-28 17:19

I know the beach camp booking are opened up ten months in advanced.  So if you ring on Monday, you would get a booking for the 31 July 2012.  Dont known about the Point, but there are only a couple of camp spots right at the point so they would be very difficult to jag one...

 Exmouth would be my vote.

Exmouth would be my vote. The only thing is it will be HOT and the winds aren’t the best at that time of the year.

heat isn't an issue,

heat isn't an issue, but the wind will be a pain! is the wind bad for most places up north this time of year?

Quobba

Wed, 2011-10-26 12:06

Ever thought of camping at quobba? Would be a little quieter around that time and very good accessible land based fishing spots... Garths Rock, high rock, etc and probably a lot easier to access than steep point.

Heat will be an issue

Thu, 2011-10-27 11:37

Beleive me I went up to exxy a couple of years ago in Jan. It was almost a ghost town due to the heat. It was near 48 everyday, the little flies were absolutley insane and the wind blew its @rse off for a week we were camping so there was no respite at all. Might be better if you can retreat into a hotel room each night but at 37 by 6:00am I'll never go that time of the year again.

ive been to to both at those

ive been to to both at those times of the year and i would have to say as a boatie that the wind can hold you up. like 30/40knts. its really hot in exy and really windy in Denham , not so monkeyM (wind protected). More fishing options in exy but if you cant handle 40degree+ weeks and 30degree+ nights. then mabe Shark bay. If yr trying to get on a charter, then goodluck. shark bay is useless, they only operate peak periods and even if they do take yr booking then the wind needs to be right(rare). More charter options in exy but the wind needs to be right. Id choose exmouth because i love to fish and would take the heat punishment for the chance to catch a fish of a lifetime.

i didn't think wind would be that much of issue. by any chance would the wind die of throughout the night?

i was at sharkbay a few

Sun, 2011-10-30 21:54

i was at sharkbay a few summers ago and was there for 3weeks. out of the three weeks i had 3 days where the wind dipped below 10knts. In sharkbay you either need a boat or 4wd to get to the premium fishing spots. sure exmouth is a few more kms but the fishing is unreal. Wind tends to blow even in the night. Dont get me wrong SB is an incredible place, the water can be like an aquarium and the bay like a pond, plenty of fish, crabs, squid, crays, but when it blows up theres always the pub.

If you are landbased  then I

Sun, 2011-10-30 22:02

If you are landbased  then I would  choose Exmouth.

If the  wind is an  issue at least there  are good options  on either  side  of the cape.

Yes its hot  but  it   will  be  hot  anywhere north of carnarvon at that  time  of  the year.
