rod/reel choice

Hi,
I am after a new rod/reel for beach fishing and have a couple of questions.
Firstly, I have been fishing with more with lures recently, is it better to use a shorter say 9/10ft road rather than the 12ft I am currently using? Was considering Shimano starlo classix 1062 - would this be a decent choice? 12ft seems a bit clumsy for fishing with lures. I was thinking 10ft may be a bit more versitile.
I am also considering getting a boat outfit at some point, so can I kill two birds and get a reel that is suitable for both shore and boat rather than buying two cheaper seperate reels. I was looking at something like a Shimano Saragosa 5000.
Cheers,
Rob

phleuger salt
got myself a phleuger salt 60,and felt very impressed with it,its losaded with 30lb braid, also 13kg drag,i would think a phleuger salt 80 ,my mate got 1 aswel, its got 20kg drag and a good ratio, plus goodline cappacity, not bad for budget reels

a little too big to throw
a little too big to throw lures with in my opinion. soething like the 5000FJ stradics or the 5000FG Sustains are much btter suited.

the 9' fwa is a good choice
the 9' fwa is a good choice for what u want.
A little longer at 10' but same line weight go the daiwa sensor surf, my #1 go to rod. It's paired with a daiwa aird 4000 at $99 new, also with spare spool and it's high speed so good spinning metals. Great setup got salmon and tailor and alike.
I'm currently looking at something lighter in 9' around 4-8kg to use a lighter line on my spare aird spool for smaller fish like flatties and alike.

Try search the shimano AR-C
Try search the shimano AR-C Game
They come in 806,906,1006,1106 and 1206
3 pieces rod which i think is good when you are travelling
It is not commen in aust as this seems to be for the local Jap
I have both 906 and 1006.
Daiwa have the same 3 piece rod but the shimano is lighter in comparing
It suit good for 5000 reel as i have both saltiga 4500 and twinpower 5000 on it
Perfect balancing

Go 9ft
The FWA Extreme 9ft rod is prefect and thats what Ryan had in mind when he designed that one. Mainly for casting poppers/stickbaits/slices etc and lightweight so you can hold it and cast all day if you wanted. As for the reel yes you want a good strong lightweight reel with a smooth drag like a Stradic 5000FJ. That reel will double up perfectly for a boat reel also.
We stock both here and can help out with line or anything else, FW discount applies as per normal.
