Rare Catch from the Swan

I couldn't resist posting up this tale from tonight. A couple of hours soaking servo prawns for bream...pretty quiet all round in the Canning but I suspect it would have been going off earlier in the day.

Anyway - there I am soaking a prawn when I get the familiar tap, tap, tap. After a few minutes, rod starts to go heavy however I went a touch too early and missed the hook up.

Retrieve my gear and got quite a surprise in the half-light to see my bait still on the hook (barely). I'd been getting knocks for a long time and expected nothing left.

Drop the hook into my hand to reset the bait and KICK! I just about sh*t myself. Sure enough there was a live prawn on the hook. Bizarre.

May have jagged it on the way back in, but there is some sort of irony in casting out a frozen prawn and reeling in a live one 10 minutes later :-) I reckon there are not too many people who can claim to have caught a prawn....on prawn.

For the record, prawn was released with a hook through the middle of it and converted into a chubby little bream that was mid 20s. Good fun.

Well let's hope there's a few hundred thousand more of those prawns for my net this summer.
