Hey guys, heading up to quobba after exams. Just wondering, if there is one lure you will always have up there, what would it be?

Old school
metals are great up there so a 85g Raider would be my choice.

metals
We did well on the metals in may,but the best ones were the s - spoons from S/Africa ..... cleaned up all day long. kwazulu was landing on average 3/4 fish before the rest of us even got a hit on the raiders, once the fish were feeding the raiders worked well, but when nothing was happening the s - spoons did the damage and brought the fish on again.
Had some good top water action on the richter plugs aswell - 3oz pink did some damage on the trevally's

Metals
Any of the big metal lures because you have to cast a fair way out to get any sort of action happening and with SE turning SW 15-25 knot winds each day from now on casting plastics is a near non event.

2nd vote for metals
I use almost exclusively raiders (os similar, the surecatch knights are cheaper, but I would reccomend changing the factory treble to something stronger), halco twistys and the spoons mentioned above, around the 85g mark, depending on the winds and what Im casting them with. Have found that the gold twistys are usually a bit better at producing than the silvers, but thats probably just coincidence, although it does seem to happen often.
shallow divers and can go alright too (cant cast them as far though and can be a pain in the butt when its windy and a pain in the wallet when the grey coats are around and your losing a few to them)
the halco max also goes pretty well if your into the blingy lures, and they arent quite as expensive as most of the decent divers, and cast almost as well as the metals

another fan of the metals here. most spots up that way your are fishing over a bit of platform reef so anything with a bib gets damaged pretty quickly. not to mention the sharks get pretty hungry so the price of a metal $6 from a department store wins over.
Those spoons ragbag mentioned sound like a their worth taking
High speed reel is a good idea also to get the metal as fast as possible

Big W - Raiders
Most Big W stores stock the 85g Raider. Cheaper than the tackle stores at around $4.75. As mentioned change the split rings. Halco Max another good one with good casting distance.
