Painting rocket launchers
Submitted by mikeurnot on Mon, 2019-02-11 16:26
Hi . I have just got a rocket launcher for my boat made by a friend who is a welder in stainless steel. It is bare and would like to paint it white . what paint would I use and brand name if known . Also will need some sort of protection for rods to put around the openings of the rod holders . I have a few ideas for that but maybe someone might have a better suggestion for that . Getting all the rods up of the deck at last.

Paint
the best and most durable method of painting it is to have it powder coated, if you go down this path make sure it is prepped properly and primed for best results.

Too late?
If you wanted it white , i kinda would done it in ali and then powdercoated it white , I think stainless is harder to get paint or powdercoat to stay on ,
not impossible , just harder.
Even for just paint you prob need to get it blasted , to really get things to adhere to it .
Just a opinion.

Failing
failing not getting it powder coated, if you give it a good scrub with fine sand paper, wipe it down well with metho, get some good epoxy enamel, and it should last a fair while.

Sandblast then powder coat.
Sandblast then powder coat. You can buy plastic end cap inserts for rod holders.
Other than painting, get the buffing/polishing wheel out.

Yeah Quadfisher above is right, ali then powdercoat. Pointless making them out of stainless then painting, but I'd get them water blasted and then 2 pack.

Tenob- they make inserts for rocket launchers

Most good chandlery stores stock them...I saw Marty at Midway Marine- and he had both the metric and imperial ones on the shelf.
Too easy.
Well, it wouldn't be if it wasn't...
