Hey just bought a 12 ft tinny and was wondering if any one could me out with some decent spots to start of with I live in leeming so I'm pretty close to the sound, and also is there any where you can get big fish without being miles out ? Cheers

Mate there are heaps of places in the sound to catch good fish. I'm no expert but can give you a few tips.
A quick search of the forum you can find the coordinates to the d9 in the sound. Good place to start for snapper. Season closes soon though. Just look for the large group of boats. You can also get some good whiting. Jump on google earth and have a look for some ground with patches of seaweed and sand. I have also had a fair bit of success drifting across the weed beds for squid just out from the boat ramp at woody point.
Although i have never tried myself, i hear you can get skippy of reasonable size neer the garden island bridge.
Hope this helps. Im sure other with more experience can give you a hand aswell.

the squid are usualy very good in the sound as well. just to the north of woodmans point there is some lovely broken ground (weed/sand) that the squid love.
If you plan on travelling further afield, I have a few spots in the eastern gulf of shark bay if you are ever up that way that fish really well in tinnys (i used to have a 4.2 m tinny myself). if you PM me i can give the gps points to you. you'll catch plenty of snapper, estuary cod, blue bone, etc etc there. I have a few photos posted in the gallery ("Shark Bay Encounters") all caught from a 4.2 tinny.
Fish! HARD!
