Mustad tainawa hooks WTF did mustad do to them

Been using these hooks for the last 20 odd years and have managed to bend a total of three hooks one on a massive marlin and two on big cod. Bought a box last year and have bent about 30 of them and on fish as small as 2kg spangos. The turned in part of the circle is folding over under little pressure so not hooking up. I thought it was a one off but I got a few out of a another box the other day that someone just bought and same thing first one hook up and drop fish after a bit of a run hook comes back bent like a banana.

Great hooks, I have a couple of boxes
that I purchased probably 20+ years ago. These boxes are marked as being made in Singapore. Perhaps these are now being made elsewhere, as in China, and that has resulted in a lesser quality hook?

I’ve used them for a long long time
Brilliant hook catch anything on them. Never had issue with bending them. Pinks can stuff point on them ( roll it over itself). There is one very simular at taylors. They are almost identical. Also very strong and cheaper. Others from Taylor’s have a slightly wider circle, I find them better due to this reason. May be worth looking into if you like this style

Thats whats happening to
Thats whats happening to these the point is rolling over on anything. They are briliant hooks cheap super strong and you can catch anything on them. Ive got a few old ones and cannot bend the point at all with pliers but the new ones the point is soft as and bends under little pressure. Might have to try a box of knock off ones you dont know the brand name?

I don’t think they have name. There around $15 per hundred. Slight bigger gap. And the point isn’t as long ( about 3/4 the length) they don’t bend over like issue you having atm. Look identical bar the slight changes. Still really good on kgs up to any size fish. As you said they will land anything. When dan was on boat out from gero he caught big tigers on them /small black marlin/ big gropper . Certainly strongest hook I have ever come across.

tainawa hooks
I first came across these great little circle hooks on a charter we did out at the Abroholos. We have since purchased some ourselves ( not always easy to find either ) and have had no such issues. A group of us went to Timor box last year and the boats hooks were straightening as well as a friends Owners on Ruby snapper. But not our little tainawa hooks. Biggest Ruby we got was 102 cm and plenty in the 90's so they were tested.

Only other hook I use is
Big bait circles on the top rig. Double snell tainawa on bottom. At least this way you cover every local fish you can catch on 1 rig. They are very cheap and strong. When they go blunt I throw them. Doesn’t break the bank. I always run line ( after doing snell) through the front of eye on tainawa. When you pull it rolls the circle outwards. I use to put through back . 50/50 percentage on hook ups. Apparently it was wrong.now I very rarely miss
