Hey Rod, you are on the right track, the throw net will be super valuable, we caught most of our fish on livies from our throw net when we were back on the coast. As for muddies, the normal crab nets work fine, make sure they have deep sides or they tend to climb out. Chase up an opera house net for yabbies. There’s lots of places you may stop at that have a pond nearby with yabbies. Other good to have stuff, purchase some survival straws (lifestraws) for your first aid kit, enough for everyone going. We’ve never had to use ours, but have spoken to people who have. They could save your life, you just never know. We use a small Weber type BBQ for a lot of our cooking, often you won’t be able to light a fire and it’s a whole cheaper heating up some charcoal beads than using gas cooking inside. Just looking around here now, I can’t see much to add, but it sounds like you have it sorted.

I had never heard of a life straw before but will be purchasing a couple for our hiking packs fantastic idea. 

Hi mate, make sure your pots have a metal mesh bottom. The ones that have net bottom tend to 'flip' over with the big tides up North.

 I would be getting collapsable trap type pots for the minute you escape WA. Then you will have a MUCH easier time getting muddies when you can actually leave them in overnight. So much harder getting crabs in WA than other states where traps are allowed.

 Thanks for all the great feed back. I 2as looking at the 4 entry pots but was trying to weigh up wether I wanted to carry different types but it sounds like it's worth it.

 Has anyone used the 2 entry rectangle pots or are the bigger round 4 entry the go. 

 Rectangular ones Large (800-100mm)  and blue were what we used up the rivers etc in the north east worked a treat. little opera house style for cherabin and cast for the liveys . Dont forget the aerogard for the cane toads. Have a ball! ahh.... the memories are flooding back

Aeroguard for cainies? Not heard of that. We stocked up on the bushmans back in Headland, but have a secret weapon when all else fails. Heading back to the coast in a couple of days to get reacquainted with those midges, got to pick up my gun from Marble Bar police first as we weren’t allowed to bring them into here.

Crab traps and opera nets for yabbies, cherabin etc are illegal in W.A. and up here fisheries WILL fine you for using them and the likely hood of getting them pulled and destroyed by another fisho is pretty high.
Position your crab drop nets in the eddy's and they won't be an issue. We use the bunbury brand of net with heavy rings.
Chook pellets and a throw net for cherabin.

Yes I’m aware of fisheries stance on it, we hope to get ours in the mail when we get to Broome, probably won’t use it until we’re in NT. Camping up at Cape Keraudren for a bit, it has a creek full of crabs. Only a handful of people are here.

Drove past there yesterday on our way back to Broome. How was the wind there.

Howdy Bill collector, it wasn’t too bad, was off shore for most of the day before coming from the north west in the evening, not overly strong, but wasn’t quite good dinghy weather.
