Midday fishing!
Hey knackers,
Went for fish yesterday, purposly chasing Buff Bream. Went to the good old Cockburn ASI rock groyne and just burleyed hard. I was only using me Bream gear with only 4lb braid. Could tell ya, once I burleyed the Buffies came out in force. Just had 10lb leader tied off to my mainline and with a small long shank hook with burley dough wrapped around it.
Nothing was stopped at all. Spooled with about 180-200m of line, I could say I have less then that now. As soon as me bait hits the water my burley bait just gets smashed on the surface and I would hold on with no way of stopping it.
Just a couple of hours fishing and I come home petrified of their brute strength and now I need to get more line. Plus hooks!
If anyone goes and give them a crack be prepared. None of them where small either. Had the camera with me but I couldn't get any onto the rocks, bugger!
Cheers guys,

Buffys
Yeah Darda, they DO go hard. Caught a few from the boat last Saturday - at one stage I had a double header of big guys on - bloody hard work LOL!

LOL Colin!
See I could say you have a great advantage on them with a boat, but still would be hard. Like I would through my hook and burley bait just pass the rock area (2-3m out) and then they would just smack it, then go straight down into the rocks.
I never want to get a double header, let alone I'm struglling with one on the end.

Buffies!
They absolutely go nuts. Were you using big outfits too? If you still got buried then there's now way in hell I'm gonna stop these big ones on be Bream stick.
Will keep at it though, will land one of these nuggets!

Sure was
Yup, sure was, they struck just as my rig hit the bottom and caught me by suprise, by the time I'd flicked out of free spool, they'd buried me.

Got more line!
Upgraded to 6lb Platypus Super Braid to my reel. I put the drag to the highest capacity. Hands still trembling still, determined to land one of these Wilderbeast of the sea.
Its all for fun, I know Tailor Marc likes his Buffies with Soya Sauce.

You need to hit them as soon as they hit you
Once they get their heads down you are in trouble.

Thanks for the Tip Colin. H
May need to do that. Sometimes they hit and then I shit myself, then they run which result in a bust off.
BUGGER!

It is like fishing for Black Drummer
If you don't stop that first run you're gone.

Hi there DK..
Well my rig was basically very very simple. I just had a 10lb coated mono leader tied off with a Bimini Twist, then a small #8 Long Shank hook. Bait wise mate, just your normal Polard Berley but make sure its not too soft or runny. Just enough to make it stay on the hook when you cast it out. But Berley hard before first, then bang you bait into the frenzy and hold on.

hey Darda my partner caught
hey Darda my partner caught his best yet last night from Hillarys. A 40cm buffy weighing in at 1kg. It was caught on a Starlo stix 2-4kg with a sedona reel holding 2kg mono line.
So dont worry to much you can definitly catch one on your bream outfit.
