Hopefully you get a more helpful answer than the shit one above as I would like to know any good lures people use as their favorites that would like to give advice with as well.
Just answering his question ;-)
I personally use surface stickbaits like Atomic K9 Walkers and Bulldogs, Berkley Scumdogs and Daiwa Gekka Shiranui.
Also caught a few on small hard body's meant for bream but I find top water more fun.
You could have said exactly that when you answered the above, you knew what he wanted from his post. I just want this site to take off so everyone gets good advice not ridiculed or pulled the piss on for asking a question.
I know you probably didn't mean anything by it but it just makes others not want to post or give their opinions if other posters give smart ass coments. That's just my opinion and I'm not having a dig directly, this could be an incredible (even more than now) source for fishing wa info if people allow it.
pezdog I agree with you both, but the OP didnt do himself any favours by asking a lazy question in the first place.
Using less words and the site as a "resource" the OP could of used the Search function. He would of found that a few members have in fact had great success using small whiting for lures. ca11um and beau to name 2 have in fact posted reports which also show what lures they have used.
I am with you regarding having an incredible resource at our fingertips, but threads of this nature (in my humble opinion) are actually diluting the great info there is on this site.
ushally for whiting you can use the small clear poppers or small stickbaits on shallow banks, that can work well. or your could try some of the gulp worms there like a bait but can be used like other soft plastics thats if your just trying to get the hang of using sp's or jsut feeling lazy on the day! but your best bet is to experiment, it cant hurt to try out new things
Think pezdog needs a tampon, what's wrong with takin the piss. Isn't that the Aussie thing to do? I find stick baits tend to get hit more than poppers. Berkley Scumdogs and daiwa gekka shiranui's are awesome. Gladiator make some cheaper ones but you need to change the hooks as the ones they come with rust after one use. Also had a bit of luck on vibes like the daiwa gekkabijin and gladiator shivers - once again, change the hooks. Also caught a couple on sinking stick baits like the Berkley subdog, not really worth the effort. Happy hunting.
Get your hand off it hero! Taking the piss is fine but also give a bit of help otherwise don't bother posting in the first place. Which Matty eventually did which is fine.
Has anyone tried for whiting on lures in the Pilbara?
It would be interesting to have a crack, but I reckon if using line light enough to deceive a whiting, I'm bound to hook a bloody 15 pound queenie or trevally.
Are the whiting up north the same species? I never see them grow into "kidney slappers"?
Numerous reports about whiting off Exxy on Poppers. And there is plenty around the Islands and beaches up here. Just have to watch the tide, as whiting mostly feed close in and on an incoming tide.
Have caught a few popping close to shore, basically tried it at hearson's first. Cast parallel to the shore and Pop. Tiny clear popper (name's slipped my tiny mind) and a small red hed popper the undoers.

Top waters work really well
Top waters work really well but I catch just as much on a clear prawn pattern vibe, like the cranka vibes
