Just saw this link for coastguard app.  Does anyone in Perth use this?  Or is it more applicable to the Eastern States only?

Not heard of

Hadn't heard of it until now. They do things a lot differently over east, like having paid workers and professional crews while we , with the exception of 3-4 DFES people who oversee WA Volunteer Marine Rescue funding, the rest of us are volunteers.

At the recent Carnarfin fishing comp, we had a mobile number so those who were leaving and returning outside of our normal radio operations hours could text in to log in and off.

One thing that came from using the text was that those who persist in using 27meg radios when they come up didn't have to rely on others to do it for them.
