what i call a live baitting ground is where you can catch your live bait for your days fishing trip normally you will catch slimies or yakers. it could be a east coast expression as i have justed moved over.
your after? Chuck a couple of handfulls of berley in the water close to a shallow rocky area and you should get plenty of herring and other small stuff. Can't really help if your after yakka's or small makeral.
near the jetty there is heaps of yakkas just burly and they come over in their hundreds and then just drop your bait chaser rig in with 3 hooks(legal amount in WA) and u have a very good chance at getting three in one. The herring will them come into the action and you should be able to get both. There is also squid around there to so a few drifts and pick up a few for fresh bait. while collecting your bait it might also pay to send out a livie as there is often sambo's and kingfish swimming around. hope that helps.
If you're land based, take the walk down to the point of Cape Naturaliste. Weather and swell permitting you can get a balloon out with a livie and a good chance of a sambo, yellowtail, sharks, tailor or salmon in season.
If you head SSW from the Coral lumps you will be somewhere near the Yallingup lumps, lots more sambos there and if you head directly out from Sugarloaf about 2.5nm there is a patch of real heavy bottom that nearly always produces.
Plenty of sand whiting off Rocky Point in the big sand holes. I use a lot of herring for bait down here. They are everywhere near the rocks from Fish rock to Bunker bay. Just use some burley (pollard and oil) and they will soon find it. Just remember we have ban on fishing for all demersals at the moment.

Herring
Herring will be your best bet for a live bait and there is plenty of them.
Are you land based or in a boat?
