Hi all , just wondering if there is a way / site etc to predict the current in May ? Got caught out in Cervanties last year and it was horrible

Use any sea surface temp website
They will all show indicated ocean currents.
As for long term prediction, you need to monitor what’s called the Southern Oscillation Index. The BOM tracks it, it’s a predictor of El Niño/La Nina events, which is what drives the Leeuwin Current.
When you say “caught out at Cervantes” what do you mean?

Didn't realise how strong
Didn't realise how strong the current was until i got snagged and the boat stoped drifting and the sea anchour over took me and raised to the surface , explained why no one was getting fish on any boats that week . Thanks for your help

Makes a massive difference
Makes a massive difference when fishing with Jigs...good to get plenty of vertical drift time before resetting, this pending top wind direction also.

When i was there last it was a glass off . Explains why i crossed the ground so fast though . Here to fish here to learn . Thanks for input
