Use any sea surface temp website

They will all show indicated ocean currents.

As for long term prediction, you need to monitor what’s called the Southern Oscillation Index.  The BOM tracks it, it’s a predictor of El Niño/La Nina events, which is what drives the Leeuwin Current.

When you say “caught out at Cervantes” what do you mean?

Makes a massive difference

Makes a massive difference when fishing with Jigs...good to get plenty of vertical drift time before resetting, this pending top wind direction also.
