Crabs of both species come and go in the river.
people say they are "fished out", then, lo and behold, they are back in numbers. They've always been the same. We've had a couple of flushes of fresh water this year, which drive them down to the mouth. The blue water worked its way back up, then we had another bit of a flush last week. I'd certainly have a go for them, you just never know.

The river actually fishes best in the mud
depending on how strong and brown it is, the fish move to the lower reaches. I'd definitely be fishing the rivermouth for mulloway, and the bream can be good, too. Since it only just really started flowing again a couple of days ago, definitely worth a go, and you can fish successfully in daylight, too, whereas, if the river is clean, you are wasting your time at the mmouth until it get dark.
