Just hooked into something BIG at Quinns Rocks dog beach...

Ok so 3 hours ago I was at Quinns dog beach when something took my bait and proceeded to take nearly 300 metres of my line, stopping every now and then but generally not letting me take any in before going again. Felt very powerful, it jumped twice and the guy with me thought it looked around the seven feet mark. played it for around 1/2 hour before it came in slightly and bit through my 50lb mono leader, game over! Does anyone have any idea as to what that could have been? Cheers guys

Sound like you hooked one of those big black stingrays about the size of your lounge room carpet.

Sorry bout the late reply, no head shakes at all, just solid bursts each time, and when it did stop I couldnt pump and wind in the slightest, definately had that ray reeling to it.
