Jetty or platform catch and reliese.

Hi there,
This may come across as a strange question but is there a way to land / take photo's of a large fish ,( mulloway of 15 kg for example) fishing from a high jetty or platform, The only way i can think of is either to use a massive long landing net or walk to the shore, (which is sometimes imposible) and a gaff im ussuming is out of the question. Of course bringing the fish in and cutting the line as close to the hooks is an option for safe reliese but hardly ideal, and of course not photos to be had. Any thoughts?

Reverse gaff
Hook yaself onto the gaff and get lowered down to the fish, take ya happy snaps de-hook fish than get hoisted back up. Just becareful where ya insert the gaff.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

if you nail the gaff shot in
if you nail the gaff shot in the mouth, the fish will swim off 90% of the time. I try and land all gaff shots into the mouth.

line
Just cut the line as close as you can its better than gaffing it by the mouth as you will damage the fish on the lift. You will know you caught it, the only reason for a photo is to show everyone else.Me and a mate have done this to heaps of mulloway 30plus fish and no problems that we know of, if we killed it there would be no chance

Seen people using crab nets
Seen people using crab nets to lift fish out of water and then release it safely again.. seemed to work well. Not sure if itd work to well on a bigger fish like a mulloway... Might be hard to balance it in the net...

You can get pier nets
You can get pier nets (basically modified crab nets) from the states, postage is a killer but.
Also seen them use tail ropes to pull up large sharks which are released afterwards, I'd guess survival rates would be low though due to the damage done to the spine
