Jetski running costs vs runabout

Thinking of selling the boat and setting a secondhand seadoo or yamaha jetski for fishing, just wondering if anyone has done this. And if so are they more or less expensive to maintain, have heard some horror stories. But they were at boat yards where they don't sell jetski's

Hey mate, I've got a 16ft runabout for fishing and a Jetski just for fun so havnt actually fished off it before. But in terms of running costs, depending on how you drive the ski will determine how much fuel it will use but I think you'll find the ski will use a bit more fuel then the boat (comparing to my own boat approx 1NM per L), but servicing is a lot cheaper on the ski then the boat (boat=$700 for Suzuki 4 stroke and $250 for seadoo Jetski) Personally I think it would be much easier to fish off a boat tho if your bottom fishing and trolling etc, but the ski would be good in the shallows and in tight dodgy places around breaking reefs for casting lures. Would also be good for chasing tuna schools around all day. Dunno if that helps you much...

My father in law has a seadoo, we have fished in Cockburn sound and had a ball, the kids are not that keen to go in the boat so a jetski would be perfect.
