But I was stunned at the price of fish fillets at Kailis yesterday, Dhuie was $89.95 per kilo, many of the other more common species, snapper, goldband, red emp etc all over $55 a kilo. Having recently eaten gurnard in NZ and being very pleasantly surprised at how good it was, saw some also for sale at the same place.
On a lighter note, shhhhhhh, wind looking good to get the boat wet in the morning

yep crazy prices for fresh fillets . you would think with all the imported fish it would keep the price down a bit. prob is everyone needs to make a few $ and the one who makes the least is the bloke that catches the fish
as far as getting the boat wet , you expecting rain

Well
My suspicion is that the prices get jacked up because that fishing operation got sold to the Chinese foreign investors last year! Also, the ban is on at present for local fish, for rec fisherman, so if people really want a feed of fish, they pay through the nose.

Went to my KGW spot, and caught everything but, snapper, break sea, Fox fish .......all returned no problem but on whiting baits and whiting flasher hooks ...... conditions were brilliant and gave the two batteries nice charge up
