Heading a bit further south

Mon, 2008-12-29 14:39

Heading a bit further south around the same time, but was thinking of driving up to busselton for an arvo/night fish or two off the jetty.

Guessing the usual herring, skippy, gars are around, but you do get bigger stuff lurking as well. Guess it depends month to month, day to day?

If squid are around, try the squid spikes. You can leave them on a float on a handline while you fish for the bait for them.

There has been quite a few tailor caught after dark latley an unweighted mulie slowly retreived has been the most succesfull way to get them. Heaps of squid and herring. And the odd Bonito is starting to show up in the real early hours of the morning.

Pm me if any more info is required

Plenty of activity down here

Tue, 2008-12-30 09:27

I'm in Busselton and there's plenty of activity down here of late, lots of squid, some big ones too, herring and tailor at night is still the go. Crabs are about in the shallows and a walk along the shore in the evening with a scoop net might pay off. Water is very clear at present so walking along the beach in the morning and casting to the whiting in the shallows could be an option, some nice yellow fin are taken this way.

Cheers
