Mate if your getting wrasse your too close to reef.Find some nice big sand patches in 10-20m. Drop a small paternoster rig with squid down and your set!

Go through the gap between

Go through the gap between the islands and head sw about a mile.

Set up a drift in 15 to 17 m of water before you get to the FFB and you should get heeps of sand whiting.

if you don't get any there go over the bank into the low 20's and you should get some there.

You might have to move a bit.

If you are getting wrasse, move.

On the Paternoster

run some red beads and/or red tubing. This does appear to attract whiting. Now only fish for whiting all up and down the coast with red on the whiting rigs.
