Alvey
I personally wouldn't be putting braid on an Alvey, get some Berkely big game mono and run that .

lol...i think mono it self
lol...i think mono it self should be able to load 1 k' line on a alvey, and braid is a hell of a lotmore expensive..and as from what i heard, sometimes braid slips from a smooth spool like an alvey
the more u fish..the less stress u get....

it really depends if the
it really depends
if the area you are fishing in is mainly sandy, then use braid with a mono terminal leader. if it is rocky then use mono up to 30lb with a 50lb leader (10-25 meters). one thing----- we dont have blackfish in WA and you'll need something a lot bigger. suggest you check 5.5 inch and 6 inch alveys. cost you a bit more but its worth it. 4.5kg wont handle anything you want to tackle and isn't heavy enough. putting 50lb on it will reduce the capacity by a fair bit considering 4.5 kg is only about 10lb. look into the 651E5,650E5,650BE1 or the 700E5 for rock fishing. check out the alvey website for more reels.
once you have bought your alvey, practice casting with a sinker. it takes a while to get used to fishing with one. you have to guide the line on with your finger aswell wich can be painful when fighting a fish.

ragbag-- i have been busted
ragbag-- i have been busted off about 4 times by stingrays and sharks this month. they beit clean through the 50lb line.
dude almost everytime i get out i hookup to a stingy or shark off the hillaries disabled platform. i might be able to f9ight em with 30lb but i use 50lb leader to be sure. i do agree with dean. i hooked up to a small tailor last month and i was suing 15lb and it bit me off and the tailor was only about 25cm

dean & soi,agree 100% that
dean & soi, agree 100% that tailor ect can bite through 15 lb leader - dont get confused - a leader and a hook snoot or bite trace are not the same thing - the snoot being the last connection to your hook.
main line - leader - hook snoot or bite trace.

Question Diehard
You state that you are 12 yrs old but how much do you weigh? Its ok putting 50lb plus line on the reel but if it snags up will you be able to snap it off at the terminal tackle end or have to cut it off at the rod tip.I have a reel with 50lb on and believe me it takes some breaking and I'm not small.

How about
1 when your winding in and guiding your line on with your finger and either the fish runs or a big shark grabs it and runs and the braid slices your finger off.
2 Braid digs into itself on an Alvey and your cast distance will suffer
3 50 lb braid is super hard to break off if you get a snag like mentioned above,
Alveys are mono reels if you want to run braid get a spinner or overhead .
I have 4 Alveys and 2 seamartins and all of them run mono .
I allways run 40 lb leader when fishing for tailor , I can't remember when I was last bitten off ( I use triple fish hard leader).
