Hey guys, I am heading to western australia over the christmas break, never been before and heard that it is great fishing!
I am getting a campervan from perth and heading north, no further than exmouth.. Just wondering if you guys have any
recomendations or any nice places that I can fish on the way up, have heard about coral bay and some others but
would like to find some more places! I am not using a 4wd so I know some spots are out of reach unfortunately.
Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks!
P.S I am thinking of going on a charter aswell, any good ones that you can name?
Thanks again

charters out of Kalbarri are good, they guys with the big 50foot allie cat are the go, they put us onto dhuies, big pinkies and even some Red Emperors as well.
also if you make it too Exmouth pop into Blue Water Tackle, they great & helpful and will put you onto any charters going out.
cheers and enjoy

Monkey Mia
Shark bay is worth considering although a fair way off the main road. Charters run out of Monkey Mia

Cervantes (south of jurien),
Cervantes (south of jurien), S Bend (between Dongara and Geraldton). Shark Bay could be a bit windy at Xmas time. Pity you won't have 4wd capability because Steep Point and Point Quobba are two of the best land based spots in the world.

Definately Quobba for landbased
No need for a 4wd either, I got to a majority of good spots the first time I went with a Honda Civic, just keep on the main tracks/roads.
If the weather is good (ie. the seas) then The Ledge is the pick of the spots, Spanish Mackeral, Cobia, Trevally, Yellowfin Tuna, etc right at your feet, don't need to cast far at all.

Second that opinion, I refer to my copy regularly! I got mine at Blue Water Tackle when they were in Hay Street Perth, but they're not there any more.

I'd recommend driving the
I'd recommend driving the Indian Ocean Road ( I think thats what its called) from Wanneroo to Leeman and drop into every little town on the way.
After that I would stop and have a look at Port Denison/Dongara, Coronation Beach, Horrocks, Port Gregory (I love that place) Wagoe and Kalbarri.
Denham/shark bay is a fair way of the beaten track and the water is mostly shallow for land based fishing. Still worth a look if you have time.
Don't miss Quobba.
Western side of the Exmouth Cape is great but expect a few 40 c days.
Camping and catching Tailor and Hearing for dinner just north of Leeman last year during a coastal road trip from Bremer Bay in the south to Kununurra in the north in January.
