'It took ichthyologists at the Australian Museum to solve the barramundi mystery after several fish were spotted at Rose Bay, Darling Harbour and Manly in recent years.

Comparison of scale specimens from a barra speared in the harbour with scales from shop-bought fish suggested the harbour inhabitants were originally from fish farms.

Subsequent investigations found local Buddhists had been buying live fish from retailers and releasing them as an act of kindness.'

Surprised to read the Nile Perch is the most invasive fish, I thought it was the Snakehead aka Fishzilla, which is currently devastating the waterways of eastern North America.
