Not to sure mate. This will be my first year fishing the fads and I can't wait. Any tips on gear and stuff would be great. Do you use lures or troll skirts.

From what I heard, they have
From what I heard, they have not been deployed yet, but even if they were, they would need a couple of weeks for any fish to consistently hang around.
Having said that, I have seen FADs deployed in the US and Asia which held fish from the next day, but I dont think it's the same case here.

Early season Fads
Keep checking the PGFC website...my guess is they will post it up as soon as they put them out.
Has anybody had any success with big dollies early on? I've heard rumours of very large bulls (presumbably leftovers from last season) appearing in small numbers this time of year but can't recall any rock solid reports indicating so.
For those of you heading out to the barges for sambo jigging, or maybe the Derwent, might be worth a look if the Fads are out there when you go.
Anyway, I hope we don't end up with so many missing Fads again...makes for a crowded scene when there's only one left!

PGFC
Just wondering how many people who are planning on making the best of the FADs this year are members of the PGFC? Would be good to see a few people join up to support the club that goes to the effort to put these things out.
Each ones worth a few thousand $$ and gets costly when they start going missing.

Good point Tim
There are a lot of us on here that benefit but it's the game fishing club that puts it's neck on the line with those things. I know they wouldn't exactly be a bunch of battlers, and they do have some well-funded sponsors on board to assist them with the program, but I reckon it would be good karma if others "chipped in", so to speak!
