Electric Reel Help ...

Hey All,

Got myself one of these Super Tanacom S 500 for the shallower deep drops (200-300m) .... YouTube

Tried it last weekend, and the digi line counter won't go beyond 250.00m ... not sure if that's the reel capability or is there an option I've got to change. Everything being in Japanese, and no manual, I've got limited understanding of the setup, yet!

Seen some of the Daiwas that you've got to do a certain setup before you spool it up, i.e. identify the line class (PE), and it has a set equivalent length! Not sure if that's applicable on these older model or not!

Any ideas?

I dropped in 540m once, with an accurate bx2-30n, but no fish.

I do have a loaned electric, but we usually have one bait out, so I figured why not jig instead of two baits.

See ... that's whats always

Tue, 2012-08-21 21:46

See ... that's whats always scares me the "no fish" thing ... or has to reset the drift, so "LINES UP" ...

I mainly use electric for recovery of jig/rig ... but certainly fight the fish manually!

I would still try it to be

Wed, 2012-08-22 10:08

I would still try it to be honest, but I know that I'll not enjoy it after few drops.

Any thoughts on the reel issue?

Yer, if its like the new ones

Wed, 2012-08-22 14:56

Yer, if its like the new ones then the 250 is the amount of line it thinks is on the spool.

I just got a Tanacom bull 1000

Line data input ( when line length is known ) try this if you one has the same buttons

1, Press RESET BUTTON for 2 seconds the display should show 250

2, use the power lever to adjust this number to how mush line you have on the reel..... say 500

3, Press the RESET BUTTON for 2 seconds and a beep will be heard and the display should return to 0.0

Hope it helps

Cheers mate ... I did it, but gotta wait until I'm out there to test it ...

There were upper (bigger) number and lower (small) number reading, and both go to 999.99 ... would that sound like where the issue is do you reckon?

Just reading some of the initial comments

Wed, 2012-08-22 21:32

So what if some of us on here can or cant wind up 230m. Not all are build like a brick dunny, and personally if I get to the point of using an electric to keep fishing, I will.

All that was asked for was some info. Hesh if I had one I would help, but then if I needed an electric to wind up 50m, because my back was stuffed etc, I would to keep fishing. Fighting a fish however no cheating.

Some constructive comments, and I might have been "dragged" into this but a simple question was asked. Now Hesh you might be well known down there, but I am from Kcity, so I might be missing on some gamesmanship, but as I see it lets just try and help.

I think you're being a bit

Wed, 2012-08-22 21:39

I think you're being a bit oversensitive, and as none of this was really directed at you, probably best to just let it go.

If Hesh was put out by any of the comments, mine specifically, he would probably tell me in any of the PM's we have recently exchanged.

Its just banter, anyone that has fished with me would know that I am just a half-pint midget lightweight and I do my flexing online, keyboard warrior stylez.
