Early season crays in pots

 G'day all,

Just wondering if anybody has bothered dropping pots for crays yet this season and if so how have they done?

Seeing a lot of divers getting them so far and it's making me very anxious! Might drop my out there Sunday and let then soak for a few days, see if I can tempt any.

Cray Pots working for sure

Tue, 2013-10-29 13:49

Today we had a customer come in and let us know the 2 x Katipo plastic cray pots he purchased off us are getting crays (very happy customer)

Other customers that are using wooden pots are producing also.

Ryan (shop owner) and myself (Josh) are also getting crays in our pots, reds mainly with a few dirty ones & a few cleans ones.

Also, while we're on the subject of cray pots, is it still productive to pull the pots in the afternoon, incase I can't get out to check them in the morning? Just seems everyone checks them 1st thing in the morning, not sure why that is tho, if there's a good reason or just coincidence?

Yep

Years ago, I used to put pots out of Two Rocks with my old man, and we always pulled them in the arvo since he was in construction and didn't have time in the morning.  We used to do alright, but it can be pretty rough :-)

Yeah thought so. Cheers for that. Think I might have a crack and try to beat the pot thieves up my way. The other lads did well up there toward the end of the season.

If your gonna go to the trouble of rebaiting someone's pots at least put a few beers in lol

my mate who is a dongara local pulled his pots one day and found them full of empty export cans, had to laugh.

those old wily boys in the caravan park might be up to a few tricks there if that's where your pots were

Should Pull

Fri, 2013-11-01 18:37

 Them as early as possible, this will reduce the chance of them;

 - Pirate's pulling them for you

 - Them escaping

 - Occy and others getting to them.

Yes, you will still get them but from what ive read these factors do come into play.
