Do other states have fish ruler stickers

Hello All,

I've been watching a fair few Australian fishing videos on Youtube lately (often east coast), and I notice people are always using brag mats, rulers, etc... to measure fish, but I never see them using a fisheries ruler sticker. Does anyone know if the stickers are just a Western Australian thing? I love the stickers, and find them so useful, I'm surprised I never see them in any videos.

I know Victoria and the NT do

I know Victoria and the NT do as i have them from fishing trips to those states the last few years. Not sure about the others though.

Might be using other measuring devices on TV because the stickers arent always that accurate themselves, hence them actually saying that they are a guide only. And hence isnt a defence if your fish is undersized when measured on an accurate ruler by fisheries, even if it does show it legal sized against the sticker.

True about the measurement

True about the measurement perhaps not being as accurate, but, they also have the fish size limits on them (obviously only accurate as of when the sticker was printed) which is nice.

Qld has them

I think as mentioned above they may be using other measuring devices for accuracy.  For example, if you want to claim an Australian length record, you can only use a Shimano or IGFA brag mat, and if it's for a world record only an IGFA brag mat is allowed.

Also, stickers aren't always in convenient places, especially when measuring larger fish.  Mat you can place wherever you want to measure.  And mats have a hard plastic end against which to place the nose so takes out some of the guess work.

 Stickers and brag mats can

Stickers and brag mats can all have their inaccuracys and exposure to our hot climate can make them worse over time. It pays to run a good tape measure across them before you start to rely on them.

True, but by the same logic,

True, but by the same logic, so can a tape measure. Any instrument has to be subjected to accuracy tolerances, some are just greater than others. I reckon if it comes down to the tolerance of whatever measurement device you're using, you're probably pushing the boundaries of what's ethical to keep, anyway.
