Cray pot queries (tampering)
Submitted by brown364 on Thu, 2016-11-24 18:59
Just wanted to find out the the more experience crew out there if anyone has issue with the end of the pot coming adrift? Went out first thing this morning from Mindarie and the first three pots all had the end door open and empty of coarse. I didn't see it once last year or in the past three weeks this year then 3 in a row!!
I want to assume that there are no twats out there (that I has been proved a dilution)and we all respect the time and effort that we all put in this time of year although this episode is bringing on doubt!
just wanted to see if others have had the same issue (explainable) or is there just cause for my concern.
Thanks in advance

you have the nylon band
you have the nylon band holding the door closed ?
sounds pretty suss to me. were the pots moves and off the marks much?
usually I only assume the pots been pulled if a number of things don't add up.....but best not to assume there are no twats out there... :)
or you could just blame it on the divers.

FWIW : I've never had an end
FWIW : I've never had an end door open. don't even use the end door just grab the crays from the top one at a time to measure inspect for setose etc.

Same same
Although we haven't had to reach in at all recently!
always way too easy to blame a diver or a suss boat (who can't find his amongst the white ball city ) so I was interested to see if it was common or happened to others. They were on the marks still and was a beautiful day to blow bubbles yesterday

We had the lid of the bait
We had the lid of the bait pot smashed to bits by what were assuming would be a seal outta ocean reef yeasterday. The half that was there was still cable tied on. Dunno but maybe the cheeky bugger worked out how to get in and just kept going. Word at the ramp from a local was a few of their pots were scratched and chewed at by a seal aswell.

But wouldnt you think it would be easier for a diver to go through the top than the side?
