Hi All
Just wanted to advise you that there is a heap of boat related thefts happening atm. Have had my transducer taken from the boat in the last couple of days.
They didnt even look in the boat so they were targeting transducers. Cops suggested that this is reasonably common as they can be disposed of quickly.
If you are getting offered a cheap transducer with a really short cable maybe think that it has come of a fellow fishermans boat and let someone know.

Seems like mindless vandalism in the end as I wouldn't think there's much of a market for transducers with cut off cables?

Seems to be a planned thing.
Have chatted to a couple of local boat yards to keep an eye out as this transducer is easily identifiable.
Both yards mentioned that this is a pretty regular thing. One said that when they get broken into the transducers are one of the first things cut off the back of the boats.
Another said they had done a few quotes in the last couple of days for the same thing as well.
Not just this area. Also know of a number of claims happening in the last few weeks all over Perth.
Trying to come up with a more secure mounting plan if I replace it

Seeing as how the cable was cut makes it look like the person who did it doesn't know much about what he has taken.
My money would be on a local space cadet, trying to get something to sell for his next top up bastards.
There is nothing safe now unfortunately
