Will see you there. We plan to target Marlin on the west side but will see how things pan out. Sails starting to show up down here so fair bet there are a few up ther by now. The weather is looking average so was thinking not too many boats will be too wide.
Looking better now. The boat I'll be on has been over there since the start of last week, very little showing in the Gulf, at least for him, although improved a lot day before yesterday, lots of birds, bit windy but got a sail off the bait balls.
Heading off from TP at midday, be there for beer o clock and an update.
Been pretty windy. I got a 150kg blue wide on Sunday but was very quiet. Only one other fish caught Sunday I think. Ed got 6 yesterday but it was pretty windy when I went to the ramp yesterday and I wasn’t keen to get pumped out there solo.
Only 10 boats competing, seemed mostly local ? Eddie on Peak charters was finding very good blues leading up to the comp, 11 from 13, but they went quiet. He was not in the comp. We caught ours pictured the day before the comp, caught zero day 1, while he caught 3. After that, even he struggled. The boys from Seaforce persevered further out towards the rigs, got a few small blacks, a striped and a sail. The gulf was where the action was, but very hard fishing. Dirty water and fast moving fish. Josh from On Strike cleaned up, what an efficent and fast-moving outfit he runs. Scotty on Nailed It was also getting amongst them. We fished there on day 2 for one solitary fish, then went back out west--big mistake ,weather was crap , and the gulf glassed off late in the morning. No bills, just the 18kg YFT on 15kg, and a dollie on 24, no points but some fun.

Yep
Fished Exmouth two weeks ago for a day, went 3-3-2 on blues, 1-1-1 on striped. One blue about 140kg, the other 180kg or so.
There are also small blacks around and the odd sailfish.

Bonanza has always been a bit more of a locals comp. Few that fish it tend to not like the crowds of gamex. Good to hear you found a couple of fish.
