Boat ramp - first bad experience
I have had nothing but enjoyable experiences boating, fishing etc... with the family - However today that changed.
After returning from a great morning boating and fishing with my wife and kids to Woodies boat ramp, we tied up (far end of the ramp), and I went to retrieve the vehicle. By the time I returned another boatie had pull in the car bay in front of me (With a significantly large boat). I Approached and politely asked if he would be able to launch around my boat, as i am retrieving not launching (this was a launch/retriev ramp). He allowed me to retrieve my boat and this is where is went downhill.
I have my retrieval down to a max 10 minute routine depending on conditions and today was no different. <5 minutes the boat was hooked and half winched on. Slighly off-centre i re-aligned the boat on the trailer and The Jerk then he started abusing me for the time it had taken. I responding telling the guy to have some patience and pointed out I am retreiving whilst dealing with 2 x kids under 4 and there are several other ramps (all avaialble) if he cant wait 2 mins... - He once again provide some verbal abuse.
Such a shame that my kids had to hear it. I also started to wonder that this is probably the same sort of impatient jerk that creates road rage. Prob the same sort of person that doesnt follow catch limits etc... Personally i think this sort of person should not be welcome on our waters.
I am happy this is the only time i have seen this. In the past every single person i have met on the ramp has been the opposite, polite and even lending a hand when needed. Just as i have always helped others.

Time taken
If it was me and he started going crook I would have deliberately taken more time just to make the prick wait even longer.
You should have taken a pic and posted it up so we all will recognise him in future.

10 minutes to retrieve your boat, you need to get quicker or you'll be copping more abuse in future unfortunately.

10 minutes is on a bad day.
10 minutes is on a bad day. Today it was all done in 5minutes including vehicle retrieval. not sure how much faster one should go doing a launch/retreive on my own? Nex time could probably run to the car.

I guess it depends on the
I guess it depends on the objective.
If it is to piss him off, then take forever, doesnt matter, the longer the better.
But for me if I had young ones under 4 yrs old, I'd want to be away from the abusive person asap. No point letting my young ones experience the abuse just to piss him off.

10 minutes not bad
for fark sake 10 minutes is no hassle- if everyone could show some patience and a little Aussie respect no drama...
Why everyone has to be so bloody impatient, enjoy the time with your family mate and soak it up.

LOL
Yeah he's got a good routine, but unfortunately this wont be the only time he gets hassled over summer if he always takes 10 minutes to winch on a boat.
I'm not saying its right tangles, but it will happen again.

When I
see some inexperienced/under-crewed boaties having difficulty at the ramp, and I'm in a hurry I usually always give them a hand. Problem solved.
BUT, in Bunbury there are some wankers that wash every ....ing thing in the boat instead of giving it a quick squirt and doing the rest at home, I find these very annoying, especially when theres a line up coming out waiting their turn.
There are only 2 wash stations at this particular ramp.

No need for it
I really don't understand blokes like this, there is no need for it especially yelling obscenities where there are young ears around.
If he wanted to get in the water, do like most reasonable ppl do and lend a hand to the bloke who is struggling his a** off. Take care out there guys there are some crazy cats out there.

karma
we had broken down once at two rocks ramp, most boaties were helpful and let us get our boat out in front of the queue except for one bloke who ran his mouth, then when he retrieved his boat his winch line snapped haha
