Doubtful you would get
Doubtful you would get reception. On the east side of the island you can usually get reception from across the water. Definitely can’t get reception anywhere south of mystery beach on the west coast of DHI. Can’t be sure but don’t remember having reception at cape inscription which would lead me to think nothing at the block.
I would rather be fishing

Nah, whole west coast of Dirk
Nah, whole west coast of Dirk a phone dead zone. We had intermittent (crap) reception up around the lighthouse and got better as you went down the east side but still patchy. Sat phone or PLB not a bad idea cos it's a wild bit of country where anything can happen but otherwise nice to be off grid...

Lol it's not a dead zone
Lol it's not a dead zone man, it depends on a few factors ofcorse ...I've been up 12 times and only struggled to get reception one time..,also you can run on the homestead cb channel if you got good enough radio if you need help I'd rather take an epirb, have a sat phone for backup if absolutely worried.... just be careful on the rocks but if ya fall in ya pretty much dead anyway not many places to get back up and you will get slammed into the sharp ass rocks and the sharks will probably nail you within 5 mins take spares parts recovery gear and puncture kit first aid and plenty of water and you will be golden

Phone
Last year with Telstra I could make calls from the high part of the cliff near the block, it was a little bit intermittent
cape inscription had more reliable service which is a 15 min drive away.
i take my epirb out of my boat with me as well and leave it in the car, if something goes wrong somewhere down the west coast your a long way from help
going up next week can't wait, will update this thread if there is 4g at the block now :)
