Submitted by Moking on Fri, 2016-10-07 08:40
Great to see that the Mokes will be doing the Drivers Parade this year as part of the Mokes 50th Anniversary.
I hope all the Mokes make it up the Mountain....could be a few breakdowns...lol How cool is that!
I'll be watching Sunday morning.

I'm looking at how I can get the dinghy into the lounge to get a bit of multi tasking happening today.

Great result, bloody Tander
Great result, bloody Tander shouldn't of have a dive and squeeze through at the Whincup/MCLaughlin incident but that's racing... Good on Webb and Davidson small team getting on top I remember when Webb was a privateer he's come along way...jack... It is way more interesting than your wrass catching knee buckling stories tho

I ended up taking the kids
I ended up taking the kids to Hillarys and watched some bloke try to retrieve in 26kn winds while screaming at the Mrs who clearly did not enjoy the boat ride to start with. That was all the entertainment I needed for the day.

Not sure.
Not sure about it being the closest winning margin in the history of the race ????
Moffat & Bond finished almost side by side in 1977, surely that is closer than nose to tail as they did this year.
I could be wrong depending if you have blue blood or red blood Haha...
Congrats to the winners in a relatively incedent free race....
Cheers & Stay safe

first 100 laps boring, rest
first 100 laps boring, rest of the race was great.
reckon whincup was lucky to get 15sec penalty and not a drive thru.
early on the fords had the fuel economy but just couldnt handle the outrages pace whincup was setting

Agree.
Agree on the penalty, normally would have been a drive through.
Good to see all the Mokes doing the mountain, glad they all made the distance. Lol
Don't see too many of them around these days, they were a great fun vehicle....
Cheers & Stay safe

I thinks he's clutching at straws uncle. Would have been an absolute uproar if they didn't penalise him.

Typical of red bull . cop it
Typical of red bull . cop it on the chin you flogs and admit Whincup cocked up. Got off lightly, it should have been a drive through which would have put him at the back and out of points

Lost interest in Baffurst when it became supercars
Loved it when it was a production race. All the classes mixed up. Some epic dices. Watching the XU1 take the GTHO under brakes at the end of Conrod at the end of the first lap--VIP Valiants cornering on the door handles![](http://fishwrecked.com/sites/all/libraries/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif)
, little European things showing their pedigree, the shenanagins around pricing because it was classed by price....... When it turned into a 2-make event, and you couldn't actually tell one make from the other unless you followed who was driving what or could zoom right in on the grille, lost interest.
Watched bits and pieces, was busy working on the reno. Every time I looked it seemd to be a parade behind a safety car. Finally saw it was 4 laps to go, again behind a safety car, but it was close, so watched it through.

My old man actually served
My old man actually served Peter Brock with a summons for not paying his phone bill many many years ago. Old man was a Commonwealth Copper back then and all those type of things were covered by them back then.

That's gold Andy. I yearn for
That's gold Andy. I yearn for a time when the Federal Coppers chased people for phone bills rather than planning to commit terrorist autrocities on ANZAC Day.
I had dinner with Wayne Gardner after he tacked onto our group of WA delegates (well tacked onto our credit card) at a conference. I was a bit awestruck as the old man loves motorcycle racing and some of those Gardner v Rainey battles form part of my childhood weekend. Just a tip to those that ever meet him, he's loved talking about his career but he is not a Mick Doohan fan...

Good Vid
But not early production racing I was referring to. That looked like a club meet for Touring cars, and fairly late, too, as they had the corner (boo!)in Conrod which was never there in the early days. But fun nonetheless :-)
Now watch this. Highlights of the 1969 Ferodo 500, as it was known then. What a rollcall of stars.

See how many WTF moments you can have with this one. Wheel changes, protective gear, pit entry and exit, advertising of a type no longer allowed....all I can say is that motorsport cinematography has come forward in leaps and bounds
