Curious aswell!
G'day! Have been living down here for a little while and have not heard anything from the locals other then talks about mass amounts of yellowfin whiting and KGs in the river. Would be curious to know the answer aswell!

been living here for 4 years
been living here for 4 years & visiting for 40 years. have heard numerous stories of people catching mulloway but have never talked to anyone who have actually caught one. at present yellowfin whiting are on the bite at colour patch, good black bream are supposed to be around up near alexander bridge, KG's are still a bit small. lots of weed on the coast but new marina is producing an occasional big fish. offshore is supposed to be still fishing well. odd tailer are still being caught.

Tried one night
did a mulloway run and I started timing the hits from stingrays. No bait lasted more than two minutes. After about number 10 I sooked and went home. The beach out near the river mouth is a far better bet
