Baron Honda outboard( 2 elderly fellas) very silly

Not into name and shame. But here goes . They launch at point peron every morning. Even yesterday. Driver of boat larger fella. Deckie slimer build Tatts on lower arm. Very nice Stainless steel pot tipper ( full size). The area they where pulling pots  this morn at 5.35 am. And undoing bridals and putting new ropes and floats  on and moving them to new location. Do not belong to them. I know for fact. Everyone there are people I know very well. Sad thing is definately locals. If anyone on site happens to know these lovely gentle men . Give them heads up , put original floats and ropes back on. And return them to location  within 2 days . I would hate for them to loose there boat for poaching. Put this up just in case someone knows them:):):) bad bad move. No rego numb going up on site. That numb will be going elsewhere...  Age 55 plus both grey haired very sad. Should know better

You seem to know what you are talking about when it comes to the sound little Johnny so I for one take this pretty seriously. If in fact they are poaching I would love them to loose their boat ....and car etc.

report them for sure and do the right thing by all of us.

cheers for the heads up.

What scum bags, it makes your blood boil! Pulling someone's pots is bad, but stealing someone's pots is a whole other level.

What were they doing with the ropes and floats they took off of the pots that wernt their's? Are they just dumping them back in the water to float away? Or taking them back to shore and dumping them? Just curious as I'm missing a pot at the moment, not from that area tho.

mate, put a report in and at least let fisheries have a chance to check it out. If they don't get some attention from the authorities they are not going to stop their behaviour. Stealing peoples pot which cost a lot of money is a dog act..

Yes the MB member will get his pots back, but some other poor person is now going to loose theirs. I would definitely be telling fisheries, otherwise they will keep on their merry way. Just wonder if the monitor this site. I hope so in this case.

This was not a misunderstanding of the rules, or a crime of opportunity. This was a well thought out and planned exercice in stealing cray pots, and chances are it is not their first time either.

Mon, 2015-12-07 13:24

I don't chase crays so I don't have a vested interest but it's people doing the wrong thing like these two gents that make it so bad for everyone else.

A message needs to be sent to all of those pot thieves (as well as all of the others that continually flout the law)out there that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

I would suggest that the details are passed on to Fisheries for them to act on. You can guarantee that they wont take action unless they witness it for themselves.

If it results in the loss of a boat and a car as well as a fine well then I would be applauding and shouting it from the rooftops. "This is what happens when you break the law".

For the benifit of all

Mon, 2015-12-07 14:44

I have the view that for the benefit of all those who put a lot of effort time and money into pursuing the sport of fishing for crays these sorts of people must be reported to the fisheries dept. ASAP

It is far better that Fisheries deal with them than they suffer some instant justice (not that they don't deserve it IMO)

This is not a crime of opportunity from the way you have described it, taking rope and floats out to change them over on some one else's pots is a planned crime, it's premeditated and how many times have they done this before.

What they have done is stealing, simple as that.

And they are bloody thieving scumbag bastards

How many post have been put up by people who have had their gear knocked off, too many that's how many. There is one F/W member who has been forced to give up his simple pleasure of catching a few crays having a couple of coldies with his mates and telling wild fishing stories why, because his gear has been knocked off and it has broken his spirit to continue to supply thieving bastards .

As they say in the pictures, just do it.

Mon, 2015-12-07 15:20

If I had known who owned the pots, I would have taken photo's ( boat, person(s) and if possible, the floats that were removed from other pots and confronted the pricks, made them retie ropes, drop pots back in and given evidence to fisheries.

Pricks like this need to be confronted - I really don't get this thread at all !

But, that's just my opinion and others will probably disagree

Mon, 2015-12-07 16:46

I think you did the right thing Johny posting it on here the way you did, there is a lot of us that launch at point peron at all different times and now everyone knows who to watch out for. Fisheries were there this morning at 7am but only getting gear off their boat not checking cray catches or pot ID's as there is hell of a heap of boats bringing pots back in which I thought they would monitor.

If I knew someone was doing that to pots of a person I know, it would be cordless drill to the sidewalls of their car tyres and their boat trailer!

Scum like that should be forced to caugh up the cost of replacing gear themselves if they are taking others cray pots, which as mentioned are about $200 each as it is

Mon, 2015-12-07 18:45

Cheap GMC thing, maybe $40 bought it years ago just for the purpose of engraving  my licence number in the pots' timber front frame, used it on hundreds of pots, still use it for that purpose on the amateur pots.

Wed, 2015-12-09 15:22

I hope so Johnny, that is just a pure dog act. Doesn't surprise me though with the amount of cunce around at the moment on and off the water. Mine were raided last week, I know that for a fact too. Pots don't sit in the water for nearly two weeks and have pristine clean ropes and be devoid of crays I know were in there. It seems the older generation are the main culprits at the moment for this kind of thing, what gives, do they think they  are owed or something.
