I had a humingbird 788 gps/ sounder fitted to my new boat before I picked it up (Thursday just gone) I have noticed that if it is switched on then I start up the outboard it freezes and the screen semi greys out and I cant switch it of the way I have to fix it is turn the outboard of switch the battery isolator of to off then back on to get it to turn of then restart the engine then turn it back on , I don't think this should happen its not wired thru the ignition my mate and I are both instrument electrical technician's and cant get our heads around it surely it shouldn't be that voltage sensitive that it freezes when there is a load applied to the battery when the outboard is started also if any one can tell me how to manually enter gps coordinates in to it would be good the C/D it came with totally not user friendly my lowerance on my old boat never did this should have stuck with them

Never heard that but I always turn on outboard and warm it up before electrics get turned on. Putting GPS coordinates should just be a mark... Or modify an old point and don't delete it when u save

Maybe scroll the cursor towards your expected mark and watch the coordinates change.  When you reach the desired Long, scroll the lat. until your co ords are correct.  hit save???

I have done this on friends gps
