.10mm 30lb berkley whiplash, .10mm 6lb rovex, .20mm 10lb suffix?

Hey all
Just bought a daiwa caldia 2000 and a liberty club egi rod, i know a shallow spool model 2004 would have been a better option but couldnt find one for the same price, my dilema now is i would prefer a braid less than .15mm, berkley whiplash is .10mm at 30lb... rovex goes .10mm at 6lb and some suffix i was looking at was .20mm at 10lb, im using 8lb powerpro (claimed .14mm) on a stradic 1000 but would prefer something a bit softer. The caldia should fit 150M of .20mm, im leaning towards the whiplash, any thoughts? So many braids these days its getting painful figuring out what to use.

30lb whiplash at 0.10mm is a complete lie. Do not trust that reading at all. Its really about 0.3mm.
Have a look for actual testing here: http://www.paulusjustfishing.com/4linetestingbuy.htm
I've liked that new daiwa braid green braid, mmm. 30lb would be way too much for a 2000 reel anyways. What are you fishing for and do you need 300m or 150?

It sounds unbelievable but i thought that about the rovex at .18mm 20lb until i fitted 275m of it to a 4000 size reel. Yeah 30lb is an overkill was more so line dia that i was looking at, nah i dont need 300M but i did want a dia smaller than .15 which would allow roughly 220M i think. Might go for 8lb rovex. Its going to be a squidding outfit but the reel will most likely be used for other things at some stage.

I dunno, a lot of people seem to believe it... Its no thinner than tufline though.
A 2000 sized daiwa will fit 300m of anything less than 15lb in nearly all braids (if very minimal backing). I would go for something 8-10lb max if you're going squidding (or less if you're only squidding/breaming). Practically anything 12lb and under will fit 300m on the reel, so all will be thin enough (unless fireline). Theres a lot nicer braids out there than rovex, but it depends what your budget is.

what breaking strain do you want??
if you have bought an egi rod and 2000 size reel you should be looking at 4lb to 8lb braid i would think? any of the more popular braids in this class 4lb/8lb will be enough, nitlon,td sensor , saltiga8,sunline,etc surely your not going to put 30lb whiplash on that outfit??

hahaha i had considered it
hahaha i had considered it but only due to the dia. nah im going for 8lb now. the reel not being a shallow spool model its going to fit +200M of 8ld so im just going to try rovex, its a bit cheaper so wasting 50 or so M wont hurt as much, i dont like using backing. cheers for your input guys.

If you're not using backing
If you're not using backing with braid, then tie a bimini about 2m long, wrap the line in a criss crossing manner about 10 times and tie a 6+ turn uni knot. Cinch the knot down by levering it back and forth. On most spools it wont slip. If you're getting it filled at a tackleshop, make sure you either do it yourself or watch them do it or they'll just do a crappy uni single uni knot sometimes :s.
At 8lb, on a 2000 spool, you'll fit the whole length on there and may still underfill the spool. This is of course assuming you're packing it on properly (i.e tight).
And its not a waste if the line is much nicer ;) (depending on your budget). For $30 or $60 you can get sunline PE in 150 or 300m though.
