Yeah, was a gash on the sharks back. A few other people got some really great photos that show it more clearly, including one underwater of the front half of it.
It is a white. Mako pointier head, more bluish and when free swimming hardly ever "show the sharp bit" whereas whites almost always display teeth. This one is certainly letting somone know I bite.

ooh maybe not a mako then..
Although i did think it was one. it does llok a bit smaller than the shark we saw though but hard to tell from that pic.

Looks like a thresher! if it had the long tail..
It is a weird looking white if it is...be good to see some other pics of it

Sam: Bit hard to see with the distortion in that pic, but I did see the tail up close and it was symmetric.
At a quick guess, I called it for 3-3.5m. Sounds like its a resident bitey.
