Yellowfin whiting-- Flyfishing?

Just wondering with the latest craze chasing YFW with lures whether anyone has tried or even better had luck with targetting them on fly?

Living in Bouvard would mind trying on my FIFO days off?

i work in hedland and go fishing with a flyer, we always come accross big schools of yellowfin on the low tides and when you get them in water ankle deep they seem to smash the flies more than lil hard bodies, bouvard should be the same i would say just dont spook em.

Give it a go

but i'm pretty sure they'll be quiet for a while now it's cooled down.

They really seem to be a summer option on the flats with topwater lures. The hot water really fires them up!

Been doing really well on

Been doing really well on them using gurglers. 3mm foam in orange has been shoeing the best results. September to Feb have been the best months.

summer

Summer is the go for YFW in the estuary. Water is too cold now and our last productive sessions were in March this year. Im not a wand waver myself but i can see that being a great idea. Poppers and walkers do the damage for me personally and i love the surface action. Agressive bastards when they are on and its great light tackle fun.

Will certainly give it a bash. So the go is popper flies rather than little crazy charlies and clousers?

Well i still reccon crazy charlies and clousers would both work if people are getting them on minnow lures.

Gurglers and small poppers get the going with the surface action. More fun too.

fly fishing

I saw a guy down near the point peron boat ramp fly fishing for yfw and herring the other week and he seemed to be going ok , if you want to fish that area better do it soon before the new development goes in there (work has already started)
