Apart from the Kool factor, has anyone noticed any advantages or otherwise to blue underwater lights vs cool white, with regards to attracting life at night?

Agree with that
Blue definately works.
I did a heap of research years ago and, I forget why but went for blue lights. From memory it had something to do with the water we are mostly in.
I cant remember exactly but green works in certain water ( murky muddy maybe, I cant remember,) white works in other water and blue work in what we do ( mostly open ocean fishing)

Blue works best, as this is
Blue works best, as this is absorbed the least by seawater.
Consequently, most fish see best in the blue wavelengths (as this is the only wavelength that penetrates more than a few metres). The image posted by the previous poster is for human eyes, we don't have to deal with seawater absorbing sunlight.

green is the best, it
green is the best, it attracts phytoplankton the greatest as they only photosynthesis in the green light spectrum, same reason as plant leaves are green as they only photosynthesis with green light.
as more phytoplankton are attracted it brings in predators, for this to happen the lights have to be left on for a while in order to attract larger predators
