Trip up to Denham early July

 Evening all,

Heading up to Denham for a week or so in the schol holidays (first week of July). I've got a 6.5m Chivers Predator, which is a very recent purchase, I'm thinking about towing it up there. Is it worth it? Taking the wife and the youngsters who love crabs and usual Snapper for dinner.

My question is, is it worthwhile taking it up there? Is there any consistent spots to drop a line in? Not after your spots or anything, just general advice please, they are more than used to me going out all day and bringing nothing home so would be nice to make a change!

Cheers,

Lofty

Great place & you will regret not taking the boat. 6.5m will get you where you want to go & back safely. We took my 5.5m there for the April holidys and had a ball. Went to Monkey Mia fishing, NW towards Cape Peron & SW to fish around Faure Island. Also its a great place to tow the kids around in a tow tube, as long as you are out of the "no boat" zone north of the dolphin area.

A few trips over to the loading jetty at Useless Loop were worth it, then north to the passage.

The ramp in Denham is relatively new and plenty of parking, also a smaller one at the north end of town is very useable.

The kids playground is great, don't know how old your kids are but it is good for most ages.

It has become our annual trip away, one year with the family & the next with the boys.....

 Cheers all, much appreciated.

Deckie, the kids are 5 & 2, they are alright on the boat, the young fella tucks himself up the front and doesnt come out!

Starbug, thanks mate, wasn't sure given the time of year whether they'd be a go up there?

I'm hoping this sounder I inherited has a couple of spots up there, the old owner took it up apparently and recommended it.

Crabs start to appear in may

Crabs start to appear in may on the Monkey Mia side. By July it should be easy to get a feed. As I said, down towards the Pearl farm/cape Rose. 3/4 m of water or where ever they are at at the time. Fish frames, or whiting heads from the Co op in denham are good bait.

 Awesome to hear Jeffh,

Awesome to hear Jeffh, thanks very much. I've got a couple of the redhead Halcos with wire leeder for the macks/ wahoo. I've never caught (or even seen) either so im looking forward to it!

The sharks sound like a nightmare.

Is Turtle bay fairly easy to get to? My only concern is the swell/ chop with the kids onboard, dont want to be knocking them about too much so I reckon crabbing/ squidding will be the main entertainment.

Turtle bay very easy to get to just watch the weather as it is a long way and can be a long lumpy trip. We went up there twice in our week with the grandkids who are two and four had a great time heaps of manta rays turtles and other things to keep kids amused. the mackies and wahoo were around a large bait school out from the lighthouse on dirk hartog. hope you have a great trip. will try and post some pics at some point.
